There's an exceptional vid on youtube that uses this matrix, and it really takes you right to the bowl.
First set is effective, but this show really starts making you sit up and pay attention when Jerry (?!) announces Santana onstage as a guest during Bird Song...and, holy BIRD SONG, Batman! If there was a band ever infused with energy, it's right here. The band is so inspired they're determined to keep that place they've carved out well in tact through the rest of the show - check Jer's solo on Truckin', and what the hell is DEAL doing as a pre-Drums lead in?!?
Mickey and Billy do the Vegas-loose change drum thing, and post-Space is, again, adequate, fun, worthwhile, esp. when Sunshine Daydream comes out of nowhere on the heels of A&A.
So, a few surprises, a confident group of guys, as they always seemed to be in '91, that big-band sound swirling and whirling. This matrix sounds fantastically subtle as well.
